Obama’s budget doesn’t match his rhetoric on spending
Monday morning, President Obama sent his ideal budget to the Congress for their consideration. It is a whopper. A record $3.83 trillion in government outlays for fiscal year 2011, resulting in another record yearly budget deficit of $1.56 trillion.
This is not the budget of a man proclaiming to now be focused on fiscal discipline, or to be dedicated to creating jobs. There is no fiscal discipline, and steps like tax credits to create jobs is a non-starter, it won’t work. Note: I don’t give him credit for creating federal government jobs.
Projections accompanied by the budget release indicate more of the same is coming from the Obama administration for the next few years. One can only wonder what the President’s goal is, for it doesn’t seem to be related to limited constitutional government, or assuring America backs away from potential fiscal collapse.
In 1981, our total federal government expenditures were $687 billion, resulting in a then alarming $79 billion deficit. In 1991, our total federal government expenditures were $1.324 trillion, resulting in another alarming deficit of $269 billion. Come 2011, projected fiscal government expenditures exceed $3.83 trillion, and will result in yet another mind numbing record deficit of $1.56 trillion. The projected deficit for fiscal year 2011 will be equal to total federal government expenditures in 1995. Debt we’ve already accumulated equals just over $13 trillion. Project that number out to 2045 based on current budget projections and our debt reaches over $50 trillion.
We’re on the wrong track. The time has come for change in DC, and it has nothing to do with Barack Obama.
