Below is a translation of the Muslim Brotherhood’s reaction to the capture and execution of Osama Bin-Laden. Zionists and the United States are the problem, of course.
A communique [bayan] by the Muslim Brotherhood on the assassination of Sheikh Osama Bin Laden
The whole world has witnessed, and the Muslims especially have suffered, from a fierce campaign to brand Islam as a perpetrator of terror and describe the Muslims as violent, following al-Qaeda’s actions on September 11.
Today the American President announced that a special Marines force succeeded in assassinating Sheikh Osama Bin Laden, his wife, one of his children and several of his guards, and we find ourselves facing a new situation.
The Muslim Brotherhood declares that it stands against violence in general, and against the methods of assassination, and that it stands for a fair trial for anyone accused of committing a crime, whatever it may be.
The Muslim Brotherhood calls on the world (in general), and the Western world, its peoples and governments (in particular) to stop linking Islam with terror, and correct the deliberately mistaken image that was spread a few years ago.
The Muslim Brotherhood would like to stress that legitimate resistance [muqawama] against foreign occupation in any country is a legitimate right according to the divine shari’a and international conventions; by reshuffling the cards, the distinction between legitimate resistance and harming the innocent has been blurred, and this was especially the aim of the Zionist enemy.
As long as there is occupation, legitimate resistance remains, and the US, NATO and EU should as soon as possible declare the end of occupation of Afghanistan and Iraq, and recognize the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
The Muslim Brotherhood requests that the US stops intelligence operations against dissenters, and halt its interference in the internal affairs of any Arab or Muslim country.
