Subj: UPDATE -Fwd: NC Proposed Change of US History Curriculum
Below is a response I received from Terry Stoops at the John Locke
Foundation regarding the NC DPI’s proposal. We need to get the link for
this survey out to as many people as possible for them to complete. I’ve
tried getting through to Glenn Beck’s radio show this morning, but line is
busy. Will send Rush Limbaugh, Glenn and Mark Levin an email about this;
maybe they’ll mention it on their shows to get the word out as well.

Sherri,
Thank you for the note! I appreciate your email.
I do not suspect that the Department of Public Instruction will hold any
kind of public forum to discuss these changes. Over the years, I have found
that they do not always like to talk to the public or solicit their input.
For now, you may want to complete their online survey at
http://www.zoomerang.com/Survey/WEB229ZQGTUSD7. Feel free to pass the link
along to anyone concerned about the changes to the social studies
curriculum.
By all means, please keep in touch!
Best,
Terry

Hi Mr Stoops,
I saw the segment on Fox News Brett Bear’s show last night about NC Dept of
Public Instruction proposal to stop teaching US History prior to the
presidency of Rutherford B Hayes in NC high school schools. This concerns
me deeply for so many reasons. I have called Rebecca Garland’s office this
morning. I got her voice mail and left a message voicing my concerns and
reasoning. Also I asked her to call me with specifics on public meetings we
can attend to express our opinions and concerns. I won’t hold my breath for
a return call.
Do you know if there are any meetings or forums scheduled to discuss this
with Rebecca Garland or members of the DCDPI? I have alot of conservative
friends and associates who would want to attend any meeting to attempt to
get this change stopped in its tracks.
Thank you for your hard work over the years in protecting our God-given
rights and freedom!
Sincerely,
Sherri Melton
