Is the integrity of the encrypted-messaging application compromised by its chairman
The encrypted-messaging service Signal is the application of choice for dissenters around the world. The app has been downloaded by more than 100 million users and boasts high-profile endorsements from NSA leaker Edward Snowden and serial entrepreneur Elon Musk. Signal has created the perception that its users, including political dissidents, can communicate with one another without fear of government interception or persecution.
But the insider history of Signal raises questions about the app’s origins and its relationship with government—in particular, with the American intelligence apparatus. Such a relationship would be troubling, given how much we have learned, in recent years, about extensive efforts to control and censor information undertaken by technology companies, sometimes in tandem with American government officials.
First, the origin story. The technology behind Signal, which operates as a nonprofit foundation, was initially funded, in part, through a $3 million grant from the government-sponsored Open Technology Fund (OTF), which was spun off from Radio Free Asia, originally established as an anti-Communist information service during the Cold War. OTF funded Signal to provide “encrypted mobile communication tools” to “Internet freedom defenders globally.”

Palestinians staged a large anti-Hamas protest in the northern Gaza city of Beit Lahia on Tuesday, and there are indications it is just the first of many to come.
Thousands of people gathered and marched through Beit Lahia chanting anti-Hamas slogans such as “Down with Hamas, we’ve had enough,” For God’s sake, Hamas out,” “we want an end to the war,” and “Hamas terrorists.”
One Gazan said, “Their rule has destroyed us, killed us, and ruined our lives — and all of us here in Beit Lahia stand firmly to end Hamas’s rule.”

Investing.com — The list of companies and countries investing in the U.S. as part of President Donald Trump’s push to reshore manufacturing continues to grow.
On Monday, the Trump administration added Hyundai (OTC:HYMTF) to the list, with the conglomerate planning to announce a $20 billion U.S. investment. The South Korean company’s reported plan includes the construction of a $5 billion steel plant in Louisiana. The onshoring operation from Hyundai is expected to create 1,500 jobs.
Last week, AI chip giant NVIDIA (NASDAQ:NVDA) announced an investment of over $100 billion in the U.S., and pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ) announced a more than $55 billion investment.
Trump calls it the “Golden Age of America.”
“More investments, more jobs, and more money in the pockets of hardworking Americans – all thanks to President Trump’s economic policies,” U.S. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said on X today. “President Trump is Making America Wealthy Again.”
The total size of the announced investments since Trump took office on January 20, 2025, is just over $2.8 trillion.
At Monday’s cabinet meeting, Trump said the administration has identified about $4 trillion worth of companies that plan to move back.
“Many companies are now moving into the United States … We have probably identified maybe $4 trillion worth of companies moving back or going to move back,” Trump said.
The list of companies and countries investing in the U.S. based on the size of commitment is noted below:
An unnamed woman is suing an Illinois abortionist for malpractice after she allegedly suffered from severe and potentially life-threatening complications from a late-term abortion at his hands in 2023.
In a legal complaint filed on March 21, “Jane Doe” claims Keith Reisinger-Kindle of Equity Clinic in Champaign, Illinois performed a two-day dilation and evacuation abortion that, unbeknownst to the woman on the table, perforated her uterus, failed to remove all of the dead baby’s body parts from her body, and left her with “irreversible suffering and emotional damages.” Kindle, who allegedly did not administer drugs to stop the child’s heart in utero, supposedly dismembered the baby alive.
The woman, who was 22 weeks pregnant at the time, was technically eligible for a no-questions-asked late-term abortion due to Illinois’ radical abortion permissions.
In fact, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker had just endorsed the radical expansion of abortion and created carve-outs shielding abortionists a few months prior to the problematic procedure named in the complaint. Pritzker’s sweeping declaration comes in addition to Illinois’ lack of abortion facility regulation.
However, the unnamed woman did not, as outlined in the complaint, escape the physical, emotional, and mental harm known to accompany abortion.
Just one day after Kindle certified that the “[p]roducts of conception were visibly inspected and confirmed to be complete,” the complaint details, the woman called Equity Clinic twice with complaints of cramping, pressure, and difficulty breathing. She was advised to take over-the-counter pain medicine and a laxative.
It wasn’t until April 4, 2023, two days after the abortion was complete and one day after she had taken the medicine suggested by Equity Clinic, that the pained woman sought emergency care. When she arrived at a hospital in the neighboring state of Indiana, the woman was found to be suffering from uterine rupture, had “half of a deceased pre-born human being” in her pelvis, and “pieces of the fetal skull that were adherent to the patient’s intestine,” according to the complaint.

For years, the United States has depended on imports of rare earth elements, the critical materials found in everything from smartphones to renewable energy technologies.
But in a surprising twist, researchers from The University of Texas at Austin have discovered that a massive domestic supply has been sitting right under our noses all along.
Trapped within the country’s coal ash deposits lies a staggering $8.4 billion worth of these essential elements, a finding that could significantly reduce dependence on imports and reshape America’s approach to sourcing critical minerals.

In 634 AD, Muslim forces conquered Damascus and gained control of Syria, which was then part of the Christian Byzantine Empire. It has happened again. Jihadists are once more in control of the nation, and a new Caliphate has been born.
Last week Syria’s ruler Ahmad al-Sharaa signed a “temporary” constitution that puts the country under Islamist rule for five years during a “transitional” phase. If you actually believe that the boys in Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) al-Sharaa’s party really intend to ever relinquish power, you are dangerously delusional and probably should have someone else manage your personal affairs.

WASHINGTON – In a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Kash Patel, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations Chairman Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) made public legally protected whistleblower disclosures showing the FBI, as part of its Arctic Frost investigation, acquired the government cell phones of President Donald Trump and former Vice President Mike Pence, among other government officials. FBI agents used taxpayer dollars to crisscross the country and conduct dozens of interviews in support of the political probe.
The unclassified FBI records convey the alarming scope and speed of the FBI’s 2022 investigation of President Trump, which they dubbed “Operation Arctic Frost.” The investigation – launched by anti-Trump FBI agent Timothy Thibault in a breach of FBI protocol – formed the basis of Special Counsel Jack Smith’s elector case against Trump. Upon opening the investigation, Thibault vowed it would be “prioritized over all others in the Branch” and commented that “it frankly took too long for us to open this [investigation].”
“Sunshine is the best disinfectant,” the chairmen wrote to Bondi and Patel. “The American people deserve to know the complete extent of the corruption within the DOJ and FBI that led to the investigation into President Trump. We are making this information public for purposes of public accountability and to provide specific examples of past behavior at your institutions that must not be repeated. Quite simply, the public has a right to know what happened in Arctic Frost and, based on what we’ve exposed to date, the American public deserves better from its law enforcement agencies. It is important that every individual at your agencies maintains the highest level of professionalism, and does not allow political bias to motivate or guide their investigative work.”
Within weeks of opening Arctic Frost on April 13, 2022, FBI agents began taking aggressive action to build out their case. The following is a summary of some Arctic Frost investigatory updates, based on unclassified internal FBI records:
